AlexAlexandra Morgan Carrasco, an American professional soccer player, is a striker with San Diego Wave FC (NWSL) and is the captain of the San Diego Wave FC. She was also co-captain of the United States women's soccer team from 2018 to 2020 with Megan Rapinoe and Carli Lloyd. [8][9] Morgan was chosen as number one in the Western New York Flash's 2011 WPS Draft shortly after she graduated early from University of California, Berkeley. Morgan played for the California Golden Bears. In the team, she made her debut in professional football and was a part of the team's success in winning the league title. Morgan was 22 at the time and the youngest member of the national team in the FIFA Women's World Cup 2011. The team finished second. She scored the match-winning goal against Canada in the semi-final match at the 2012 London Olympics. She was able to finish 2012 with 21 goals and 28 assists and was able to join Mia Hamm as the only American woman who scored 20 goals and record 20 assists during the same calendar year , she became the sixth and the tiniest U.S. player to score 20 goals in one season. She was awarded the U.S. Soccer Female Player of the Year and was named a FIFA World Player of the The Year finalist. Morgan also helped the United States win their titles at the 2015 and the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cups, where she was named to the Dream Team for both tournaments as well as winning the Silver Boot in 2019.
